Job Description



Subsidiary:

Lighting Systems: 8500 Hansen Rd., Houston, TX 77075 (located near Hobby airport)



General Description:

Fabricates and assembles structural metal products.



Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

High school diploma or equivalency (GED) is preferred, but not required.



Experience:

1-2 years in fabrication preferred but not required.



Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to read tape measure and blueprints. Able to calculate and interpret common tape measurements. 
  • Must be trained in applicable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and work instructions, if any.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple or somewhat complex instructions. 
  • Able to write notes or simple correspondence. 
  • Able to effectively communicate information to co-workers. 
  • Able to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division calculations using whole numbers as well as decimals/fractions. 
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Able to deal with standardized situations with a limited set of variables.


Essential Duties:

  • Must be able to follow engineering drawings.
  • Review prints to determine setup procedure, sequence of operations, and dimensions needed.
  • Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto work piece.
  • Identify material to be used and load material onto or into machine
  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines: press brake, shear, saws, punch press, turret press, or rivet machine.
  • Measure pieces for conformance to specifications and verify that the correct quantity has been produced; notify Lead person of any discrepancies
  • Operate forklift in a safe and proper manner.
  • Perform ongoing housekeeping duties to keep work area clear of scrap and debris


Work Environment:

Industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. More than 2/3 of time is spent near moving mechanical parts.



Physical Demands:

Manufacturing position; spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands, and reaching.  Spends app. 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing.  Spends less than 1/3 of time positioning items weighing up to 30 lbs. Generally requires clear vision at close range and perform repetitive hand and arm motions.



Schedule:

Full Time

Mon - Fri 7am - 3:30pm, with some Saturdays.
