AZZ Field Services

General Description:

The QA/QC Inspector will perform inspections and tests during progression of the project.  The QA/QC Inspectors will be required to have a working knowledge of the project including original proposal, plan interpretation, project specifications, and the overall construction schedule.  Additionally the quality control inspector will be required to help generate and oversee execution of the project quality control plan.  In performing any number or combination of these tasks, quality control inspectors shall support published corporate policies, set a productive and consistent work example, and be responsible for following up on all task assigned.

Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

High School or equivalent is required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have at least 5+ years of construction experience.
  • Must be currently certified as an AWS CWI.
  • Must have experience inspecting the welding & erection of piping per ASME Section 1, Section VIII, Div.1, B31.1, B31.3 and NBIC Part III.
  • Must have experience with qualifying welders and procedures according to ASME Section IX.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist with evaluation of field conditions and determination of required acceptance testing.
  • Perform quality control inspection and testing in the field.
  • Support QA/WC testing and paperwork requirements.
  • Prepare daily reports as it relates to crews, progress issues.
  • Anticipate project testing needs with sufficient lead time per the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and manage NDE subcontractors.
  • Verify and assist with subcontractor/supplier quality control programs.
  • Oversees the inspection and testing of material, parts and products to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Responsible for operating mechanical and electrical test equipment to check the apparatus for conformance to standard requirements.
  • Provides supervision for the day to day operations of the group and has the authority/responsibility for accepted weld count.
  • Flexibility of schedule and the ability to adapt to changing work scopes and conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
