General Description:

The role of an AZZ Field Services Project Manager is to take a "won" project from the commercial phase (estimation) through operational completion.  Planning, readiness review, execution, invoicing, lessons learned, close-out).  Smaller projects can be managed from the office while larger projects require site leadership.

Specific project task includes:

  • Cost controls
  • Schedule management
  • Customer interface
    • Primary point of contact for all correspondence
    • RFI's
    • EWO's/Change Orders
  • Coordination of all subcontractors, vendors and suppliers
  • Payroll
  • Billing
  • Project Closeout


Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

Four year engineering degree required.   



Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Contract negotiation experience with subcontractors, suppliers and vendors preferred.
  • Five years experience in developing construction schedules and budgets preferred.
  • Conducted pre-construction meeting with subcontractors, customers, and owners.
  • Previous experience in preparing and maintaining contracts and related documentation.
  • Must exemplify experience/ability to manage projects in excess of $2 MM.
  • Direct supervision of Project Superintendent and other project related personnel as needed.


Essential Duties:

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
  • Act as main point of contact for customers
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitment if necessary during project cycle
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with project members
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within project team
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Proactively manage changes in project scopes, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
  • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the company
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management

Chemical / Industrial; Pulp & Paper Mill; Power Plant; Chemical Processing.



Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk, sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. 



Schedule:

Full time: Typical project durations run 2-10 weeks.  Some overtime required, seasonally hours can be up to 84 hours per week.



Travel:

Up to 50% travel seasonally
