Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Manager, Plant Accounting is responsible for the day to day accounting activities and support of plant operations. Manages daily processing production transactions to support Job Costs, Work-in-Process and Inventory, Customer Invoices and Accounts Receivable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned):

  • Maintains transaction records and support.
  • Serves as primary financial representative with corporate, financial institutions, and customers.
  • Supports, maintains and enforces all required Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) processes and procedures.
  • Processes monthly transactions timely and ensure data integrity.
  • Performs timely closing of all Oracle modules to meet organizational timelines.
  • Reconciles various accounts.
  • Assigns general ledger (GL) codes to non-purchase order (PO) transactions.
  • Creates, documents and posts month end journal entries.
  • Verifies actual production costs to variance analysis.
  • Reports on the daily plant activity including key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Audits (Bill of Materials) BOMs and job cost analysis.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory variance analysis.
  • Ensures data integrity of material, labor and overhead within Oracle.
  • Provides financial support for plant activities such as cost reduction initiatives, Kaizen events and other similar activities.
  • Assists in the preparation of forecasts.
  • Develops the annual budget. Reviews department budgets and provide support and information as needed.
  • Manage activities and personnel in the Accounting Departments at Atkinson and EPSI to ensure timely processing and dissemination of accurate financial information.
  • Ensure that financial activities comply with company policies and remain within legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Prepare reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable):

  • Accounting personnel as applicable.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Equipment Used: Operates basic office equipment.

  2. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.

  3. Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and reporting. Knowledge of manufacturing costing and systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Working knowledge of large ERP systems such as Oracle or the equivalent. Strong transaction and project focus.

  4. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field required. A minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing accounting.

  5. Language Skills: Advanced oral and written comprehension and expression skills. Ability to actively listen to others and effectively convey information to all levels of employees including senior management.

  6. Reasoning Ability: Ability to take direction, learn and apply new concepts. Capable of self-directed work with management and peer oversight and instruction.

  7. Attendance Requirement: Normal business hours as required by Company policy and as required to achieve departmental objective.

  8. Travel Requirement: Domestic travel may be required.
