General Description:

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Level III maintains and updates AZZ WSI NDT qualification and certification programs.  Maintains, develops and updates AZZ WSI NDT procedures and written practice.  Acts on AZZ WSI's behalf in matters regarding NDT, including NDT program, procedures, inspections, inspection results and interpretation.



Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

BS Degree in Engineering or other technical field.



Skills and Experience:

  • Individual must possess or have the ability to possess ASNT Level III certifications in Liquid Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle, Visual Testing, Radiographic Testing and Ultrasonic Testing.
  • Capable of developing, qualifying, and approving NDT procedures, establishing and approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, procedures, and designating NDT methods, techniques, methods, and procedures to be used.
  • Must possess a technical background and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Prefer a minimum of 10 years in the energy industry with 5 years nuclear.
  • Working knowledge of the ASME Section I, III, V, VIII, IX, XI and B31.x codes.
  • Practical background in welding fabrication and products.
  • Must be knowledgeable of 10CFR Part 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, SNT-TC-1A and CP-189.
  • Must have the ability to translate code and customer requirements into procedural/process documents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with various cultures and at all levels management.
  • Knowledge of power plant design (nuclear and fossil), engineering requirements, fabrication and related quality activities.
  • Experience in using software tools and applications developed in MS Excel and Access (advanced development skills preferred).
  • QA documentation experience is a plus.


Essential Duties:

  • Preparation and qualification of NDT procedures and personnel
  • Training and qualification of NDE personnel.
  • Documents and tracks the status of AZZ WSI personnel certifications and continuity.
  • Establishing NDT techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, procedures, and designating NDT methods and techniques to be used.
  • Provide oversight of NDT subcontractor services.
  • Coordination with project management to ensure that code, contract, and regulatory requirements are properly translated into process control documents.
  • Review contracts to ensure AZZ WSI compliance capabilities.
  • General support of projects and liaison with engineering, quality assurance, production, and customer, as needed.

Climate controlled office environment and client site locations.



Physical Demands:

Sitting for long periods at a computer. Standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 30lbs.
