General Description:

We are seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor (Fabrication) to plan, organize, direct and control fabrication, welding, machining and paint requirements to produce quality products.

Location:

8500 Hansen Rd., Houston, TX 77075 (near Hobby Airport)

Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering or other related field preferred. 

Minimum 7-8 years of experience in fabrication/machining environment.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a progressive supervisory/leadership role.

Skills and Experience:

  • Good manufacturing processes knowledge.
  • Experience with ISO 9000 or other Quality programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Problem solving and analytic skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties:

  1. Plans and directs the activities of all human and physical resources of the assigned Fabrication department to achieve Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals.
  2. Oversees work order management, material flow, and material handling to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  3. Has an understanding of tooling and equipment functions, capabilities, and limitations to influence designs and processes.
  4. Identifies, develops and implements safety, quality, and productivity best practices across the Fabrication/machine shop.
  5. Utilizes product and process knowledge to provide training to direct reports with a focus on developing a professional and flexible workforce. Ensures appropriate cross training of across all products and processes.
  6. Accountable for team members’ performance and responsible for employee relations issues, including required discipline.
  7. Achieves the expected level of quality service by ensuring adherence to company quality standards and proposing improvements to quality procedures based on observations of production process.
  8. Participates and/or lead in Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, ISO audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  9. Creates and updates processes and systems by analyzing layouts, operating controls and procedures. Champions continuous improvement efforts and works with supporting function to implement change.
  10. Develop and maintain positive co-worker relations and communication programs to foster an engaged culture.
  11. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

Industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. Facility is enclosed and is ventilated and heated but is not air-conditioned.

Physical Demands:

Spends over 2/3 of time standing, using hands, and talking/hearing. Spends approximately 1/3 to 2/3 of time walking. Spends less than 1/3 of time climbing, reaching, and kneeling. Generally requires clear vision at both close and moderate distances.
