Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Administers and coordinates the policies, programs, and activities related to human resources, recruiting, benefits, employee relations, employee programs, payroll, safety, and workers compensation support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned):

A. Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources to ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.

B. Conducts recruiting activities to fill vacant positions to include advertising, screening, etc.

C. Advises management of any employee relations/labor relations issues (i.e. grievances, arbitration activity, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations, and CBA compliance).

D. Assists with the administration of the performance management process (PMP) to ensure compliance with company policy.

E. Assists with the investigation of accidents and collects data for input into the Zurich website and all required OSHA reporting documents.

F. May represent the organization in personnel-related investigations and hearings.

G. Maintains all personnel-related documentation, including personnel files and related records and reports.

H. Coordinates employee activity functions.

I. Assists with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) training to comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

J. Coordinates with Corporate Compensation to ensure all facility related job descriptions are in compliance.

K. Supports the Human Resources Manager in the areas labor force analysis, key performance indicator (KPI) reporting, and posting of data on the KPI/Business boards.

L. Assists with projects and additional tasks as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education/Experience: Two years’ experience in HR administration, EHS and Payroll administration required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.

B. Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.

C. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of current federal and state employment laws (ADA, FMLA, etc.) and familiarity with EHS related regulations. Ability to efficiently plan, organize and complete work assignments within a specific timeframe while multi-tasking. Must be detail oriented work and have the ability to work in a team environment. Advanced office skills are required. Must possess excellent customer service and organizational skills.

D. Equipment Used: Basic office equipment (personal computer, fax machine, telephone, copy machine, digital scanner, postage machine, printer, calculator). Microsoft Office Products including, Excel, Word and Outlook. Other software includes Oracle.

E. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret government regulations and professional publications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.

F. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate percentages, discounts, commissions, and interpret graphs and basic statistical data. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations.

G. Reasoning Ability: Inductive and deductive reasoning, ability to draw conclusions, selective attention. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and labor relations contract administration.

H. Attendance Requirement: Regular attendance required during office hours. Occasional overtime.

I. Travel Requirement: Less than 10% with possible overnight travel.

J. Physical Demands: Office position, primarily sedentary. Spends app. 2/3 of time seated, talking/hearing, reading, and using hands/fingers to write, type, etc. Generally requires clear vision at 20 inches or less for reading/writing.

K. Work Environment: Indoor, air conditioned environment. Some exposure to outdoor elements and production environment.
