AZZ Enclosure Systems in Chattanooga, TN is seeking an Engineering Manager.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a staff of Electrical and Structural Designers and Engineers.

Primary Job Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee functions of drafters and designers responsible for designing both structural and electrical components of complex electrical equipment enclosures, operator centers, and control centers.
  • Interact and communicate with customers and Project Management regarding questions on engineering specifications and designs, status or details of projects.
  • Ensure accuracy of drawings/BOMs and timely planning and completion of designs.
  • Work closely with Sales, Master Scheduling, Project Management, and Production to ensure designs and project specifications meet customer expectations and production schedules
  • Approve process specifications and design standards.
  • Assign projects to Designers and monitor workload, performance and results of each employee.
  • Evaluate departmental processes and implement KPIs and other key metrics to drive further improvements and efficiencies.
  • Monitor and manage departmental expense budget.
  • Administer personnel functions, including recruiting, selection, hiring, performance management, corrective action and salary recommendations.
  • Provide performance feedback and appraisals to direct reports on a regular basis.
  • Coach, train and develop employee skills to improve performance of staff and operation.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested by management


  • Structural or Electrical Engineering Degree preferred; other engineering disciplines considered
  • Proficient in use of AutoCad.
  • Experience using Solidworks 3D drafting software.
  • 5-7 years electrical and structural drafting/design experience
  • Experience managing designers/drafters/engineers and projects
  • Customer Service/Sales experience
  • Experience with Industrial Electrical products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Lean/Six Sigma process improvement methods
  • Experience with applicable regulatory and compliance standards (i.e., NEC, AWS, IECC, IBC, UL, CSA, NFPA 70e, etc.)
