General Description:

This position is responsible for providing technical coating performance and product design information, conducting coating failure root cause analysis, assisting AZZ and Customer personnel with coating problem resolution and assisting with the application of HDG services resulting in customer retention and revenue generation.



Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Material Science preferred.  NACE Coating Inspector, Corrosion Technician and/or NACE Int’l Corrosion Technician Certification preferred. Valid driver’s license under no type of suspension.



Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

In-depth knowledge of hot-dip galvanizing coating performance, product design and production process. Excellent customer relations skills.  In-depth knowledge of target market industries.  Knowledge of steel fabrication and /or metal finishing sales.  Must be a subject matter expert.  Oral comprehension and expression.  Ability to read and write.  Ability to clearly communicate with all levels of personnel.  Excellent oral/written communication skills. Well developed presentation skills.  Moderate to high level mathematical skills, commensurate with an Engineering Degree.  Inductive and deductive reasoning, ability to draw conclusions, selective attention.  Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



Essential Duties:

  • Answer technical questions about hot-dip galvanizing and associated issues.
  • Act as Technical Representative for AZZ Galvanizing Services during coating performance discussions with affected parties.
  • Develops technical training materials for company personnel.
  • Represent AZZ Galvanizing Services on AGA Technical Services Committee and other Association Technical Committees.
  • Present continuing education seminars for interested parties (i.e. Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Fabricators, etc.) as assigned.
  • Assist in developing technical marketing materials.
  • Follow established budgetary restrictions.


Work Environment:

Primarily air conditioned office. Some exposure to outdoor elements and production environment.



Physical Demands:

Majority of the time is spent sitting, some standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and bending. Must be capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to see at close range and perform repetitive hand/arm motions.

Travel:

Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
