Job Description


Subsidiary:  Aztec Tubular Products - Crowley, Texas

General Description:  This position is responsible for, but not limited to, setting up and operating numerically controlled machines to thread oilfield tubing to specifications.

Education, Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:  High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • One to three years of experience focused in machine technology required.
  • Experience in Mazak or Mori Seiki preferred.
  • Ability to operate CNC lathe and read and edit CNC code.
  • Ability to read tape measure and blueprints.
  • Ability to properly use precision measuring tools such as caliper and micrometers.

Essential Duties:

  • Confers with Lead Person or Supervisor to confirm job requirements and quantities.
  • Identifies material to be used and loads material onto or into machine.
  • Loads program into machine and enters commands to activate pre-programmed machine instructions.
  • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to the specified set point and to start machine; changes cutting tools and adjusts feed and speed rates as needed.
  • Observes and listens to machine operation so detect malfunctions; refers to machine manual to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Measures pieces for conformance to specifications and verifies the correct quantity has been produced; notifies Lead Person or Supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Performs ongoing housekeeping duties to keep work area clear of scrap and debris.

Work Environment:  Heavy manufacturing with loud noise levels.  Enclosed, but not air conditioned, work areas.

Physical Demands:  Two-thirds of the time is spent standing and using hands.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
