Job Description

 AZZ Enclosure Systems is looking for a Quality Inspector for the Millington, MD location.

Primary responsibility is to inspect and identify non-conforming material and workmanship in the fabrication and assembly (including, electrical, and painting) of Equipment Enclosures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned):

  •  Inspect all jobs in production to ensure work is being completed per AZZ Quality Policy and Procedures.
  •  Record job progression on checklist designed for Quality Assurance on all  enclosures. Assure correct materials are used as identified on outline/legend.
  •  Perform final inspection of enclosures to assure the job is defined by the outline/legend and drawings, as well as Procedures have been followed.
  •      Verify all material has been packed and identified on the packing list prior to shipment.
  •  Assist, facilitate, train if requested, personnel on improving the quality of our products.
  •  Inspect customer-supplied materials to ensure equipment received is in compliance with legend and drawings.
  •  Coordinate with shop supervisors and engineering departments to correct quality problems and determine corrective actions.
  •  Support the quality system and assist the QA Manager in updating and revising quality procedures and work instructions.
  •  Review customer contact reports and recommend corrective action as necessary.
  •  Communicate problems or concerns to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  •  Attend a weekly production-scheduling meeting with the Master Scheduler, department leads and managers to ensure company goals are being achieved.
  •  Perform other assigned jobs as required by the QA Manager and work overtime, as required.


A. Equipment Used: Ability to use basic shop equipment listed in essential functions.

B. Certificates, licenses, and registrations: None

C. Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read blueprints. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and process manuals. Ability to identify non-conforming quality issues and recommend corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.

D. Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED. Some vocational training would be helpful. Prefer at least one year in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Needs to be familiar with welding, electrical and painting processes as well as building codes (UBC), National Electrical Code and structural steel paint council standards.

E. Language Skills: Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

F. Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills.

G. Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

H. Attendance Requirement: Regular attendance required during plant hours. Occasional overtime.

J. Physical Demands: Lifting: moderate, Reaching: moderate, Stooping/Kneeling: heavy and Climbing: moderate.

K. Work Environment: Un-air-conditioned plant.
